John 9:39
And Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.”
God often places us with people who refuse to believe truth.
How can they not see?
Why can’t they believe us?
It’s obvious that their actions are making things worse!
But they don’t see it.
They don’t believe us.
And they don’t stop their foolish, destructive habits.
So, why are we even dealing with them?
Judgment.
Well, evidence may be more specific.
Whenever we are confronted with truth, our reaction speaks for us or against us.
God places truth speakers in our lives to see our reaction.
If we believe the truth and change our misbehavior, no matter what it feels like or what it costs, God has evidence that justifies His judgment of our faith.
That’s a good thing because it is faith in truth that makes us right with God, that sets us free, that opens our eyes.
If we deny the truth and continue in our misbehavior, God has evidence that justifies His judgment of our blindness.
That’s a bad thing because God will not save the willfully blind from falling into deeper pits.
Either way we react to truth, God is justified by the evidence He gathers.
When you speak truth, you are a witness for or against people that God is just in His judgment.
God wishes that no one should perish.
We are His merciful attempts to give doubters and cynics opportunities to repent of their blindness and be saved.
What truth do you speak that often gets ignored or argued?
How does relating to Jesus in this way give you comfort?
