Psalm 85:8
I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying,
for he speaks peace to his faithful people.
But let them not return to their foolish ways.
Peace is not the loudest voice in our heads.
It’s often the quietest.
More to the point, it’s the most secure.
If you aren’t listening, it won’t talk over the other voices.
Peace knows who it is and if you want it more than other things.
Peace doesn’t need you for it to be at peace.
That’s why it’s called peace!
Nothing broken. Nothing missing.
Calm. Assured. Quiet.
So, you must listen carefully to hear it.
Notice the instrument behind the voice of peace.
God the Lord.
He is speaking peace to His faithful people.
Not condemnation or shame.
Not terror or worry.
Peace.
Are carefully listening to His voice today?
The voice you carefully listen to is the voice you obey.
What we pay attention to is what we follow.
Always.
There is a choice.
Who will you pay attention to?
Who will you obey?
Listen carefully to God the Lord and don’t return to the foolish ways of listening to anyone else.
He speaks peace to those who are really listening.
